So it's nap time in the Gutierrez home and I've been rather busy today. I felt bad leaving Gabe to entertain himself but every now and then I need some moments to myself. I am sure every mother out there can relate, and if you can't, than you are Superwoman.
After a hearty lunch of yummy spaghetti and pasta, salad, and apples and strawberries for dessert, Gabe headed into his room ready for nap time. He asked me to read him a book and I felt rather compelled, considering we went from lots of 1-on-1 the last few days to really nothing at all for most of today. We tried to read a Thomas book that lights up and plays music as you read along, but the batteries died on us. I was so comfy in his glider chair with him on my lap that I just couldn't bear the thought of getting up and searching for another Thomas book.
Low and behold, in the side pocket of the chair, was his Read-and-Learn bible. I pick it up and ask, "Look at this one! Want to read it?" He ponders. "I want to read Thomas." Not to be defeated, I say excitedly, "But this one is about God, Moses, David, Daniel, Mary and Jesus!" He relents.
As I show him the front cover, I ask him as I point to Jesus, "Who is that?"
"RAFA!," he exclaims.
I am thinking to myself, "RAFA?????"
I ask again. Same response. Apparently, Jesus Himself and Abuelo Rafa bare striking resemblance to one another in the eyes of Gabe, who will be 3 in 10 days. Is he trying to tell us all something?? Here is a picture of both Jesus and Abuelo Rafa, judge for yourself. Am I just not seeing it?
