In refusing to be defeated in the Breastfeeding Bit, I attended NYU's "Breastfeeding Support Group" today and talked to a lactation consultant who have me some good pointers when it came to feeding Anna, who I temporarily forget amongst the stress of it all that she is a preemie and still shouldn't have been out of the womb until August 24th. Her gestational age is somewhere around 37-38 weeks. After the class, which reinvigorated my drive to keep on keepin' on, I quit looking at the supplemental bottle as The Enemy or the pump as The Mistress and just sucked (no pun intended) it up as: Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, until her mouth grows some more and she quits sleeping so much. She is still 2 1/2 weeks from even her 40-week gestation so I gotta be kinder, nicer, more patient in my thoughts surrounding this whole Breastfeeding Bit. It also made me feel better that amongst the mother's at the support group, 3 were new like myself and the other 4 had babies from 3 months to 7. All of them - ALL OF THEM - hated breastfeeding in the beginning. Then they grew to love it. Hopefully, we can turn Anna into a Milking Machine, a real Milk Diva, so I can abandon the pump and not wash a bottle for a few days.

P.S. ("Personal Shout-out"): Dad, I promise, once I get this thing down, my blog will move away from the breastfeeding topic and on to better things, like the start of football season.

I hope the BF clicks for Anna - my 3 were all good nursers and I found that I enjoyed it more each time. Good luck!
I had issues with both BF, Allysa never got it and Ashlee was always sick. The one the thing I learned is I could not feel bad but it was hard. I am sure she will do fine.
By the way, send you dad to my site if he needs a football fix in a few weeks it will be polluted with Buckeye and Steeler stuff I am sure.
