The Ethics of Mouse Killing

I googled Mouse Poop and a few articles came up about mouse traps, like the ones we used in the pantry that caused the death of two baby mice. I read that those traps cause a slow and painful death, where you can actually hear squeaking and high-pitched sounds for 8-9 hours while they die. This left me completely disturbed. I feel completely responsible for unnecessary suffering. PETA would have me court-martialled. What am I supposed to do? The traps we set now are the classic trap, where you stick the cheese on the "landing pad" and the thing snaps faster than you can blink an eye. The other tiny mouse we caught with that kind of trap had his poor rib cage crushed and we just hoped he died on impact. It was so bad I dreamt about the poor thing for a week. But what else do I do? Continue to let them poop on my counter tops, where I prepare my children's food besides my own and Manny's? I am having a terrible ethical dilemma here. Do I stop at the Brillo pads and hope they just go away? What would Benedict XVI say?

I sincerely empathize with you, for we're having the same trouble. We've tried everything, too, & those black sticky pads catch mice the best. It's an awful way to go..but better those little critters than making us sick. Good luck finding the hole where they're getting in! Get a cat: it'll catch 'em!

I have had mice and they disgust me to no end.... I really don't care how they die as long as they do, honestly!!! They carry disease and I can't allow them to poop all over my house. That being said, I don't like to pick them up and thrown them out so, I would do a thorough inspection of the house, find the hole, go room by room looking at the pipes from the heaters, under the sinks, under the doorways, and plug them... I have bought those green rat-killing little blocks and spread them around the back of the appliances and in the back of cabinets, closets, etc. I hear they eat them and go outside to die, but some will die in the walls and you will have a stench for a little while. When it all fails, call and exterminator.
Happy hunting!!!!
ps: I think Benedict XVI will have them eradicated from his living quarters also.
pss: Don't get a cat, they don't all catchmice and they are a nuisance.
