To give you an idea...

To give you an idea of what my life has been the past few days, I've cranked out 3 articles (that entailed site visits, interviews, info gathering and then writing somewhere around 4,000 words), visited the office for muy importante meetings, juggled a semi-sick baby and an overactive toddler, while having to get two more articles in before jetting off for Thanksgiving holiday in Florida (on Monday). Add in a volunteer day with the Sisters of Life, housecleaning and Christmas decorating before we go, and my plate can barely hold anything else (unless it's chocolate). While doing what I do best (interviewing cute, old priests) Anna got a bit rambunctious... To appease her I placed her on my lap facing my laptop hoping she'd Shhh it down until I finished up my questioning and Woolah! Her new way to hang with mom.

I am truly sorry for my absence, even I have missed myself and my wittiness of a blog. I find it keeps me grounded...

As for the mouse debate, all the PETA-supporters can find solace in knowing we haven't killed anymore mice which is good for two reasons: 1. I have a guilt-free conscience, and 2. that means Manny and I have clogged all of the existing holes and they can't find a way to get in to the apartment (Knock - very hard - on wood). I have a fear that these critters will nest in my couch while I am away. (Oh please Lord, no.)

Manny and I are not the only ones getting so excited for Florida. Tonight Gabe asked me to get down his Lighting McQueen suitcase so he could pack Thomas.

The conversation went like this:

Gabe: Mom, can you get my Lighting McQueen suitcase, please?
Me: Umm... I don't where it is. (I actually did, but was in a great groove of article writing.)
Gabe: Here. I show you, Mom. It's all the way up there, close to the clouds in the sky. (He knew it was in the very top part of Anna's closet, the highest storage point in the apartment.)
Me: Ok... Oh well look how high it is! I can't reach it!
Gabe: Well, Mom, just go get a chair and stand on it. Or the ladder. Here, I'll show you.

By this point I was out of excuses and he was so nice about the whole thing I felt bad for my first white lie. Who was I to keep it up and dash his dreams of packing Thomas for Abuela's? He then told me that Thomas would probably ("prolly") stay in Lighting McQueen until "we go to Hi-O for Christmas, Mom."

Ok, Gabe.

Now let me get back to work...

wow, you're making me feel really unproductive!

I've learned (the hard way) that taking the 2 minutes to get them what they want (the suitcase, the Barbie head from the top of the closet, the moonsand - NOT) will then "usually" result in more time of peace and quiet...not always...but usually.
have a fun time in FL!
