Despite his Rock Star entrance, Gabriel was still left unimpressed.
On the same night as thousands gathered at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Light-up, we were in our neighborhood a few subway stops away lighting up our own Christmas tree. The school nearby had a big fundraiser in the church parking lot, where parents donated cookies and teachers sold hot chocolate, their Christmas tree lighting was unveiled, and Santa himself rode in on an NYFD fire truck.
We came with rather high expectations; it wasn't until we saw a 6-foot tree (give or take an inch) in the parking lot that we realized it was no where near the famous 65-foot high, 35-foot wide Norwegian tree being lit up at 47th Street and 5th Ave. Our light-up was almost humorous! But the children loved it and when Santa arrived there was a mad rush to see the bearded man in red!
We hung out with our new buds and fellow parents that we've met through Gabe's school and they are all classmates and friends. It feels good to actually know people in the new circle we've become a part of. And as hard it was to come back to NYC after a great vaca with fam, I've been looking for and have found some great reasons to love NYC, and nothing beats it at Christmastime.
Earlier today we attended a Day of Advent with the Sisters of Life at the Church of Our Savior on Park Ave., and it was so wonderful to spend it with so many awesome people. Instead of just gearing up for the commercialized Christmas, we have been really making an effort to focus on the real meaning of the season, and prepare ourselves for the greatest gift of all, Jesus!
While we mingled with everyone downstairs after the Mass, we noticed Gabe on the stage area of the auditorium, walking "the runway." We have no idea where he got this from! Future model? We'll see.

What a hambone!!
Love that kid, he is so much fun!! That is the church we frequented for Mass when we visited NY 2 years ago for Christmas, Gabe came with us .... I am glad you are enjoying NYC for Christmas, it definitely transforms that time of the year.
it seems like the people do, too. (meaning much nicer.) :)
OMG. That is hilarious. One to keep for when he's older.
