History 101: Billy Joel Style

Anna and me during our history lesson

I'm a bit infamous for leaving e-mails in unread purgatory, flagged by yours truly to read at a later date. About once a month, I find the time and the energy to go back through my inbox and carefully catch up on what would now be called old business. It really is nothing personal; I attribute it to an undiagnosed case of attention deficit disorder, where I religiously check my e-mail, longing for the multiple-numbers in bold flashing "15 unread" or whatever it is that day and then reading only one or two. It'd be safe to say that oftentimes I gauge my importance on that number. Until bulk mail builds up and I realize how petty it all is, go through the e-mails, delete and go on with my life. For at least a month, anyway.

Today, I started opening up all those flagged e-mails, excited for what I may find. How can I possibly describe the joy that flooded my soul when I clicked on a link to an entire pictorial rendition of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire"? Many times, hundreds even, I have played that song on my iPod, carefully hitting "play" and then "pause" while I try to memorize all of the lyrics, and I always say to myself, "One of these days I am going to research these and figure out which ones I don't already know." Obviously, since Anna's baby book hasn't even been filled in (ssh, don't tell her, she doesn't know), I had yet to start my WDSTF project.

Now, I find, a guy did it for me! I mean, not for me, but he did it! For all 11 million viewers who have already seen it! And the best part? I can click on the photo of what I don't know about and it leads me to Wikipedia, site of unending information, and tells me all about it! Anna and I have viewed it four times already! (Smartest 6-month old ever.) Click here for your 50-year history lesson in  3 minutes! (You won't be disappointed. And if you are, you get your money back. Which is awesome. Free for the price of.... Free.)

*Thanks to Daddy-o for the e-mail. I know, it's been like a month.

I'm very selective on my forwards, but that was a really good one. You and Anna look alike in this photo.
