Gabe is, and always has been, such a boy! Cars, trains, superhero's, and... "toots." The very sound of one sends him in to gregarious laughter (ironic how the name "Greg" is in this adjective describing Gabriel's finding flatulence funny, isn't it?)
While on the subject of Gabe's total boy-ness, I'd like to share a little story. While Manny was outside working in the back one afternoon this past week, he came inside to grab something while Gabe played with rocks in his "quarry" as he told us it was. A minute or two later, Manny headed back outside and I hear all the way on the other side of the apartment: "GABRIEL WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!!!"
For Manny to get excited, and actually yell, I was afraid for what Gabe had done. I ran as fast as I could to make sure everyone was alright, and found Gabe pulling up his pants. Confused, I asked what happened.
Apparently, while Manny had come in for something, Gabe felt he had to go potty. (He actually tells us "My Pee is Coming! My Pee is Coming!" before running off to the toilet.) Only this time, he thought it'd be more convenient to pull his pants down to his ankles outside, bare behind hanging out, and pee in the corner by the concrete steps. When finished, he pointed out to us that he had drawn a circle on the ground.
I couldn't help but bust out laughing as Manny firmly explained to Gabe that when he has to go potty, he should go, well, to the potty. In the bathroom. The lecture didn't last long, because pretty soon Manny was laughing so hard we were both close to crying.
As far as we know, Gabe hasn't drawn anymore pee-circles, but I was secretly happy that he found himself so comfortable in the great outdoors, even if those outdoors are in New York City. I proudly looked at Manny and said, "That boy does have country in his genes."
