I am in the process of weaning Anna. Should the girl have taken a bottle like normal before, I may have been tempted to do this months ago. It wasn't really an option for me then, but now, it is! She took 4 ounces of formula yesterday, and today she took 6.
My freedom is right around the corner!!
Gabriel picked up one of Anna's baby doll's the other day while she and I were doing our new "Baby Yoga" DVD. She laughs and giggles the entire time, which makes me feel great. Usually, any other time she looks at me, it is with a blank stare as if to say, "Go ahead and try. Make my day." But yet I never seem to, despite my sincerest tries.
Gabriel breathes and she squeals in delight. Daddy smiles and she smiles back. I coo and caw at her, voice pitched high and ever so delicate, and... Nothing. Completely blank.
Baby Yoga has changed that. Her favorite position is "Super Baby," where I lay on my back, legs tucked up while she rests on my shins. I hold her by the waist, she looks over my knees and we bounce while I delightfully sing "Suuuuuuper Babieeeeeeeee!" She loves it. It's the only moment in the entire day where I feel as if I serve her developing needs beyond diaper changing and feeding.
While Anna and I Super-Babie'd, Gabe played by Yoga'ing along with Anna's baby doll as his partner. He even rubbed his hands together and warmed the doll's heart as I did the same with Anna. He coaxed the baby's head, down to its tiny toes, gently whispering "Prettieeeee Babieeeee."
I was amazed at how well he took note. That eventually turned to slight embarrassment when he lifted up his shirt and placed the doll's mouth on his nipple.
"Gabe, uhmmm... Whatreyoudoing?"
"The baby had to take a break. She got hungry, Mom. So I feed her on my chest."
Silence.
"Really...?"
"Yeah. Could you pause it while I go feed her?"
I decided to grab the bull by the.. well, horns... and explain to him that only Mommies can feed their babies by their chests, called Breasts, which give them milk, called BreastMilk. He seemed to grasp it all very well. Understanding, he then handed me the doll.
"This exercise is making the baby hungry, Mom. Can you go feed her? I'll watch Anna."
