Friends Make The World A Better Place

One of my best friends growing up, Kathy Felix, came up to visit us this weekend. She lives in Baltimore now and, after her city was pounded with 30-inches of snow on Saturday, her bus trip got cancelled on Sunday and she was able to stay an extra day with us. It's been wonderful catching up on old times and has served as a great diversion from our normally mundane life. (I say that tongue-in-cheek!) But it has been great having such a great friend around. Lots of laughs this weekend.

Our first family portrait (with all four of us!) in a very long time!! Seriously, if we don't take it "self-portrait" style with the digital camera pointing towards us and Manny or I trying to center our heads, it doesn't happen. So we were very thankful that Kathy snapped this!

One thing Anna definitely recognizes lately is the flash of a camera. She saw Kathy snapping away and starting waving her hands and smiling. Tiny gal, big hambone.

Our Super Bowl spread. (Like the tacky beach towel? That was to Gabe-proof the coffee table.) What's missing are the yummy chocolate-chip cookies, and of course, brewskies and Bacardi. Gabe was quite excited as Kathy and I were at work in the kitchen.

Kathy likes to joke that her and Gabe are on the same maturity level. I thought she was kidding until I saw that they were best friends by the end of the weekend.
