The Gabester turned 5 on June 22nd and we celebrated the festivities on Tuesday evening before the Big Official Bowling Party on Saturday. I made him his favorite, lasagna with meat sauce

It turned out great! I also baked a homemade double-layer cake with an official "5" candle:
Then we readied for the Big Reveal for the Big Birthday Present:
A real big boy bike! We had it draped in a sheet in my office for a day or two and he walked right by it... Thank goodness!
We then had time to take it for a spin out in the neighborhood:
He went crazy over it and we've been riding a lot lately. Just the other night we rode to our chiropractor, which is about a mile away, and while I pushed Anna in the stroller, Gabe obeyed all traffic laws and rode his bike the whole way there and back. I was really proud of him and I think he was pretty happy with himself. (It helped that some pretty gals winked at him, too.)

Can't believe it is June 22nd-5 years later...Dear Gabriel, you sure left us waiting for your grand entrance.I remember waiting to see your little head (which wasn't so little when we finally saw it) and the nurse put you on that scale and could not believe 9lbs 9 oz,now look at you today. I love being your memmie and I am still as happy about you as the day you were born- I love you and thank God for you and Anna daily..
