Toe Sense

My schedule book this week took me from a "not" to a "hot" for a fun work event I attended this morning. Being that I am currently scheduling many a meeting and school tour for Miss Anna's transition from home-based Early Intervention to (insert tear here) pre-school, running Gabe all over for school functions and baseball, keeping an eye on the husband's work schedule and making sure he is fed, writing part-time for a newspaper, and incorporating exercise back into my new-found healthy lifestyle, life didn't lend itself to getting a pampered pedicure before it was time to Wow The Crowd in these fine finds, my beloved Banana Republic peep toes:

I pretty much despise bending all the way over and sawing the calloused skin off my heels. In addition, my hand is neither 1. delicate or 2. steady, so it is safe to assume I can't paint on anything, especially toes. I am your perfect candidate for a monthly pedi in the summer; quarterly pedi-getter in the winter. A little S fun fact here: my toe nails had not been painted until college. For some reason, (between volleyball, swimming, track season, theater, student council and academics) painted toe nails weren't necessary in high school (maybe because it was in Ohio and we went cow tipping on weekends?) In the end, it took an intervention by my college girl friends to take me to the nearest pedi salon and fast.

So, being stranded by a packed schedule and hating self-pedi's, what was I to do for this morning's meeting? Improvise! Yes, I have a hit a new low (or high) depending on which way you look at it. I went through the effort of putting on the shoes, deciding which nails would make an appearance, and gently painted one coat of some nail polish I've had since my honeymoon and waited for it to dry. I didn't even scrape or cotton ball off the polish that was on there from my last visit to the nail salon, roughly two months ago.

I promise you I won't be wearing flip flops out anytime soon but I will say Gabe was a bit puzzled when he noticed my feet. Thankfully Manny is pretty much clueless to these sorts of things until I get myself to the Chinese lady down the street.

YES! I LOVE THIS! The shoes - way too cute!!! LOVE them! But I also did this same thing on Easter when I didn't have time for a pedi (although I've only had 4 pedi's in my life and 3 of them were my treat to myself before I had a c-section for each child) - I typically do it myself but on Easter I had to improvise and I painted just the "necessary toes". So glad I'm not the only one! :)
