eBay'ing from home

For the past two weeks, and for the rest of the month of August, Barbara Walters and her crew over at The View where the hubbalub works, are all on vacation.

They summer in the Hamptons or venture to the Jersey shore. The Gutierrez's are "summering" on their stoop in Queens. If we make it to the stoop... It's usually late in the day once we make it outside anyway. We are making the whole "life with 2 kids" adjustment. (However, yesterday gave us some hope when we went to a birthday party with both kiddies and we all returned in the same fine shape we were in when we left.)

So back to topic. Manny has been off for the past 2 weeks and doesn't go back to The View's studios on the Upper West Side until August 28th. I think I can safely say we are both loving each other and the time we have had together.

On Thursday, he decided to get out all of the stuff he has stored away to "one day sell on eBay." Since he has been off, he actually had the time to get all of this sorted and put together. This was perfect timing actually, because I was able to unload all of the maternity clothes I know I will never need again and some of the handbags I have purchased over the years that I just don't use anymore. And then there are the other odds and ends of just... Stuff. Stuff that clutters.

As I returned from the grocery store on Thursday, my usually put together living room looked like a hurricane rolled in.

Manny's eBay "Business"

His eBay store was so well set up, I could see his method through the madness. Over our lounge chair was a white sheet that served as the backdrop for the photos he had to take of the stuff to post. My usually covered-with a lamp shade-lamp was lamp-shadeless to serve as lighting of his "photo studio." The clutter-turned-merchandise was set up in a row, waiting for their pictures to be taken. My favorite part of the "studio" is the black tape on the wall above the chair, which held up so professionally the white sheet in all of its glory.

So far, we have had three bids on three different items. By far the BEST is on a birthday cake singing platter that some deranged receptionist from a former job gave me as a present. It's currently going for $4.99.

But instead of poking fun at some of the stuff we have had bids on, I have to discuss the amazing work Manny and his "photo studio" produced. Check out this bag of mine I am selling and the work he did:This photo makes me want my bag again. Doesn't it make you want my bag too? I think instead of being an eBay seller, Manny should take up a career as an eBay photographer. Hey, one man's trash is another man's treasure, right? Especially when it can look this good!

Hopefully the buyers of eBay think so too and purchase, purchase, purchase!!
