As anyone who knows Gabe knows, the kid l-o-v-e-s sunglasses. This afternoon, he insisted on Mommy, Daddy and "Gabers" (as he refers to himself oftentimes) wearing "these cool snowglasses." He means to say "Sun" but it always comes out like "Snow." So the two guys fished out a pair of gifted sunglasses for Anna, and woolah. The coolest family ever.
So while we were on our way to Mass this afternoon, an older lady passed by us as we exited off our stoop and onto the sidewalk. Anna elicits a lot of comments, mostly because of her oh-so-tinie size.
"It looks like your holding a baby doll!" the lady exclaimed. "How old is she?"
"Three weeks," I reply.
It is here where Gabe cuts into the conversation. "That's Anna," he says.
"Oh well you must be such a good big brother," she says.
"I am. I pooped!"
I POOPED???
"You pooped?" she asks. "Well, we all do!!"
At that, she dashes off, walking a lot faster than what she had been. Obviously running from Poop Boy.
He calls after her, "I poop in the potty 'cause I am a big boy!"
She looks back, gives a polite nod. Walks faster.
"Look at my stroller!"
She picks up her pace. Again.
"I poop on the potty!!!!!....." he is calling out after her.
Manny and I are so red in the face but can't help but laugh at this crazy boy. Our son.
So we arrive at Mass and as I carry Anna to receive Communion, Manny and Gabe follow behind me. I overhear Gabe's church whispering:
"I want a cracker, Dadda. Can I have a cracker?"
Manny did not put together that Gabe was talking about the Eucharist and says, "Uh, sure Gabe. We'll get you some crackers."
After Manny received Communion from the priest, Gabe's question persisted.
"I want the cracker Dadda!!!"
Manny finally understood what he meant and turned to him and said politely, "No."
Out of frustration, Gabe falls behind Manny in the Communion line back to our seats and hauls off and whacks Manny right in his a$$.
Manny picked him up because this old woman shot him a dirty look for "bad parenting" as he stifled his smile and laughter at what Gabe had just done.
For us, it was another day, another Gabe-ism.
