On Friday, Gabe had his second ever dentist appointment. His first was a total bust up; as soon as we arrived to the office a mere 6 months ago he took one look at that frightful chair and freaked out. The man couldn't even get within 5 feet of my screaming toddler. We left pretty much right then and there, and I made an appoint to find a new dentist. He stunk with kids. After consulting with his pediatrician, we found one on E. 64th St., which was great location-wise and about a 10-minute subway ride from our stop in Astoria. The minute I called the office, the receptionist was oh-so-sweet and worked really well with us. So on Friday we got up and headed in. In a word (or 3): He. Did. Amazing.
The dentist was great with kids and even held her own consultation with Gabe before we headed in to see "the chair." She had cool knickknacks and fun toothbrushes... He did so well she even got in a teeth cleaning. No cavities, Hooray! But, we find out: Gabe has an extra tooth!
I always wondered why his "snaggle tooth" in front came in crooked... He has the straightest teeth except that one. Well, it's his "extra" one. An extra tooth for an extra special boy.
So today we received a letter from the dentist, an awesome little touch I totally appreciated, telling Gabe how great he did, and sent a picture they took of us while in "the chair"; he barely noticed it because he got to pick out some cool sunglasses he wore to protect his eyes from the light they used to see all of his teeth.
And his extra one.
