It's New Years Day!
Happy New Year!
After arriving back home last night around 7, unloading the car, making some yummy munchie food, and watching the Times Square festivities from our living room (where we could also hear the confetti cannons and fireworks lighting up the sky from midtown), we headed to bed, thankful for so much. We woke up this morning in our oh-most-comfortable bed in our gifted Egyptian cotton sheets, which are worth every bit of the hype, and rolled over to see the time... 11:28 a.m.! Every member of the immediate clan must have been exhausted from our 9-hour drive back to NYC! I bustled in to the kitchen to load in the sauerkraut and polska kielbasa, then prepared for the sad task of stepping on the weight scale after a holiday away!
Who else has gained a few sugar cubes around the waist, a little bloat in the face, a tad bit of extra chin? Who else experienced a "too many sweets" or "a little stress-induced" zit on the face? Who else is ready to kick 2008 out into oblivion, save for the good memories, and welcome 2009 with a big "Hello, Fresh start!"
There is nothing better than welcoming a new You with a new Year!
I can be proud to say that my resolutions were kept last year! They were:
1. Quit smoking
2. Fit into a smaller size of jeans! (2 sizes to be exact!)
3. Let my hair grow out (after a scissor-happy stylist chopped it off at the end of '07 and told me it was "the new trend in hair" while I walked around NYC looking like the Posh Spice hairdo on crack)
So dare I share my resolutions for 2009!
1. Lose another 50 pounds, putting me back at my best looking, where I was freshmen year of college (I may share this journey to this resolution with you on occasion, nothing like keeping me honest!)
2. My new motto is "A penny saved, a penny earned" (thank you, Benny Franklin)
3. ...Jury's still out. I'll let you know when the verdict comes in
I am thankful I am spending my New Year's Day with my awesome husband, hilarious son, and beautiful daughter, giving thanks for health and each other.
Happy 2009!
