Dipping Toes In

I woke up this morning knowing there was a long list of responsibilities to tackle, one of them being making some calls and finding a Three Kings feast on Sunday, the Epiphany, to take photos for the newspaper. The traditions in the Spanish community here are really fun and make for great spreads in The Tablet

Our whole newspaper was recently made over and has a fresh, clean look. It hasn't been updated just yet on the website, but hopefully soon. I was elated to find that my cover story from a few weeks ago was still receiving positive response from both Brooklyn and Queens and my other cover story elicited a few hefty donations to the subject I covered! One woman, after reading the article, arrived to the residence's doorstep with a check for $1,000!

Sometimes, when I think of the year to come and the goals I want to accomplish, one thing I can be rest assured of is that I love writing, and I love that my articles are reaching far beyond what I will ever really know (until I can ask the Big Guy). I feel like I am able to do a bit of His work with a talent He has bestowed to me. So I've made the calls and have the assignment and all is well in Work World.

I come to the blog to share that I had my first recurring dream in ages! I've only had one other recurring dream in my life and it would come and go over the last few years. The latest dream I had two nights in a row - collectively Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 - and it is something I have thought about for a few months but am not really moving on.

In my dream, I ran the NYC Marathon.

I can't help but shake this feat I would love to undertake. The lottery is in mid-February, and if I am not chosen through that, then the only guaranteed way I can run is by running for charity, where I would need to raise $2,500.

I am going to sign-up when the application is made available in mid-February, and in the meantime, I am going to start running. Think of it, come Nov. 1, 2009, lining up with 26,000 other runners? I get palpitations just thinking about it! How cool is that?!!
