Gabbin' With Gabe

Ever since Aunt Moni came into town a few weeks ago, we've been loving the extra set of hands! I've been able to do a few things around the house, run a few errands, and my favorite, take Gabe out for some Mommy and Me time. Last week, we went to our favorite bakery, Martha's Bakery on Ditmars, and had a little time to ourselves. He picked out a chocolate icing chocolate cupcake and I behaved and just drank coffee. I won't lie though, I did steal a few licks.

:)

We talked about his disdain for "the other summer camp" that he went to after he spent a week at "the funnest soccer camp ever." Too bad soccer camp was only a week... We decided he won't have to go to "that other camp" the rest of the summer since Abuela would soon be in town and with Aunt Moni around we'd be able to do a lot of fun things.

He was happy with the compromise and it was nice to spend some one-on-one with him. He is growing up so fast and has so much to say. We've been borderline arguing as of late, since he has an opinion about everything and certain ways he does things, and while I love and appreciate his independence, sometimes we drive each other crazy. I see so much of myself in him, especially when I was a kid. Even on the rough days I have to step back and smile... He makes me laugh so much.

I hope we get some more time with each other before he starts kindergarten... I am trying to figure out how I can have Martha's become a little tradition for us, so that on the days we are missing each other, we can go have a Martha day. I always remember a line I read once:
Children know LOVE spelled as a four-lettered word: TIME.

That day was definitely time well spent.
