Atlantic City wha???
Mama, Aunt BJ, and myself after 1 chardonnay. Or
It seems that since Manny and I's step outside of our comfort zone and into a few days of relaxation a few weeks ago has infiltrated how we do things anymore. For example, an almost-3 hour drive with two kids to Atlantic City for the day would have been scoffed at with "are you crazy?" especially with how akin Anna is to traveling. (Not.) But something last Saturday morning overtook us and Manny and I said Heck-to-the-Yes and decided to go.
Zeee men: Uncle Lee, Rob-o, Husbando and cutie patootie Gabriel.
It started with a phone chat with my mom, who was at the airport with my Uncle Lee and adorable Aunt BJ and of course Rob and they were heading to AC for the weekend. I thought at first how nice it'd be to head down just Gabe and me for a lunch date and then head back. Manny and Anna could hold down the fort here for a few hours. I had also gotten in my weekend assignment that Friday, and didn't have anything on the schedule for Saturday or Sunday. I told Ma I'd discuss with husbando and get back to her.
"I wanna go too!" he said. Done!
Turns out husbando wanted to go too and... 2 hours of packing later, we were off! I can't quite explain it. For once, we had nothing on our calenders work-wise holding us back, Anna had just finished her Saturday morning therapy and it was as if the crazy possessed us and we just went for it.

This bag fit everything for 1 overnight for: Manny. Me. And Gabe.
So what began as a "head to AC for lunch with me and the Gabester" turned into "incase something happens with Anna, we need to take all of her stuff, and if we are taking all of her stuff it might be better to just spend the night there."

The diva in Anna required a bit more for her overnight stay.
As we packed up the car, our excitement grew and I had it planned out perfectly. We would be driving down during Anna's nap time, so surely she'd be rested for the evening. Until...

Smile!
Anna was so excited to be out of the house and into the car that she smiled and laughed and sang to the roadtrip soundtrack the whole way there!

Zzzzz......
And the kid who we expected to be rowdiest... Well... He had other plans...

A bed fit for the royal children.
We arrived around 5 and before we left for dinner, we checked in and I prepared the necessary items for the kids' night time spread. I had it worked out perfectly. I was even able to hang the feeding tube in its backpack off the lamp in the middle of the beds. Serendipity!

I like them the best when they are sleeping. ;)
They were pooped! And so was I. It was nice to come back to the room and have most of it taken care of. They slept in until 8:30 the next morning. I think we might head to AC more often if not for the morning sleep-in alone!

Gabe was ever the gentleman and did wonderful during dinner and the drinks. Of water, of course! And where I was afraid Anna would be on sensory overload with the lights of the casino and the sounds of the people, she actually enjoyed it! Her eyes were lit up and the smile barely left her face.
Right before the Shanghai Showdown.
The next morning it was all play as the boys put on their swim shorts (they are on, I swear) and fought one of their epic battles, all before breakfast. We headed out around 1, returned home at 4, unpacked and headed for an early bed. It was a wonderful weekend spent out of the city and in the company of family. I'll take that any day!

I hope the ladies can contain themselves after seeing me bare chested...
Tell him Aunt Joyce just doesn't know how to act with that pic. So glad all went well and you had since an enjoyable time. I bet Aunt BJ and Uncle Lee had a great time too and loved seeing the kids.
