Thanks, GI!

How great is this?! Good news to report!!

Anna had a check-in visit with her GI doc, who we really love. Especially now. At any of the previous 100 appointments it seems we have had with GI in the last 2 years, we walk in concerned over no-or-too-slow weight-gain, reflux, stomach pain, constipation, and/or slow gastric emptying. Usually all of the above. And then we walk out with a list of 10 things to change, new medicines to try, and all kinds of dosages for all kinds of different times in the day. After Anna's hospitalization this past January for her severe GI issues, which seems like a lifetime ago, things on the GI front have calmed down a bit.

She tolerates 18 oz. of Elecare a night through her g-tube.
She gets 2 teaspoons Miralax.
She gets 0.7 mL's of eryped 4 times a day.
She gets 20 mg's of Nexium twice a day.
She gets 1 mL of neurontin twice a day.
She gets 2 mL's of Lexapro in the mornings.

This whole regime we are on has saved our lives. Anna has responded so well to all of it. We still have coughing fits from reflux, or a little bit of throw up, but we're talking once or twice a month, not three of four times a week, as was our life before.

So when I walked into GI on Tuesday, I was ready for him to pull an ol' switcharoo on me but it never came! Only this quote from the doctor's mouth: "Normal weight gain for a child Anna's age is 32 grams per month. Since Anna's last weigh-in in January, she is gaining 200 grams a month! She's put on 1.76 pounds in 3 1/2 months and I couldn't be happier. See you in 3 months for another weigh-in."

THIS coming from the doctor who in January was scheduling us for weekly weigh-ins he was so concerned for our little Anna Banana!

It really seems (knock on wood) that we are turning a corner!!
