Anna's Room Got A Facelift!

This is just a snapshot of what our apartment looked like after all of the medical supplies, formula and other g-tube essentials arrived last week. Imagine this photo above and multiply it by about four. We were literally walking over boxes of materials, piled high in Anna's room, flowing out into our kitchen, and even more out in the hallway of our apartment building. We arrived home Wednesday night, and by Sunday I was schlepping off to Ikea in Brooklyn for some organizational saving grace. And thank the Heavens because I found a beautiful white bookshelf that matched the other shelving in her room, some great baskets and hat boxes to organize (and hide!) everything in, and with the help of husbando extraordinaro, we turned this could-be-hospital room into a cozy retreat for Miss Anna Banana!

The after photos:

I replaced the white standing lamp in her room with this little light that isn't as bright and is perfect for when I have to go in and check on Anna's night feeds without waking her up. It's right on the wall and frees up some floor space, too.

The bookcase/storage shelves fit perfectly into the little nook in the corner and has everything I could possibly need for her. I labeled everything and I think this is just what we needed to "cozy-fy" the room and am I crazy or does the medical stand just kind of blend right in?

When we were at Ikea, Gabe and I also found these cute wall mural stickers and we thought it was perfect. Gabe made a great argument for them when I almost put them down.
He says, "But MOM! Anna will LOVE them! Her favorite color is RED!"

So of course we just had to get them.

:)

And following an afternoon of the G-Fam's hard work, Daddy fired up the grill just to find that it had started raining. Instead of giving up his quest for the perfect burger, he found an alternative way to make it work: sticking Gabe's sand table umbrella into the fire pit and grilling away. When Gabe saw this, he came in running: "Mommy! My Daddy is INCREDIBLE! You are Wonder Woman and he is Mr. Incredible!"

Yes, we are, Gabe. Yes, we are.

Hilarious. Can't wait to see the room this weekend but it looks really "cozy" like you said. Stickers nice addition. Funny I was grilling in the rain the other night too. Food is just as good.
